The client, Mr. Lameck, is the student council coordinator at my school; he is responsible for overseeing all student council and club leadership elections. He usually runs the elections using the old tedious system of paper ballots. Consequently, the manual system sometimes raises complaints about the validity and transparency of the election results and is very time-consuming considering the school’s large population and the many student leadership posts available in the school. During a consultation meeting with the client (Appendix C), he explained that the current manual voting system using paper ballots is time-consuming, inefficient, and prone to errors. Counting votes manually often leads to mistakes, and there have been past cases of duplicate voting due to lack of a proper authentication system. Additionally, Mr. Lameck highlighted that handling candidate applications is a major challenge since the process is manual. He currently creates paper forms, collects applications, and evaluates them manually, which consumes significant time and increases chances of bias or oversight. He expressed the need for a centralized, secure, and transparent digital voting system that can seamlessly handle both candidate application and voting. Rationale for the proposed solution

My client is personal coach , he manages a large number of trainees with different fitness goal , mainly focused on whether losing weight or gaining muscle. The client told me that he creates daily workout schedules and meals plan for each trainee based on their physical situation , and the fitness goal , and availability. Trainees should follow these plans to achieve their goals , but current system of communication everyday and tracking is manual and inefficient. Each trainees needs to provide basic personal details such as height, weight, daily available training time , and the fitness goal. When the trainees subscribe with the coach, the coach then make meetings with trainee and then creates personalized schedules and dietary instructions accordingly. However , with an increase in number of trainees, it becoming more difficult for the coach to track individual progress, ensure compliance with the meal plans, and monitor results effectively. To solve this , the client it looking for a digital solution ( Trainee Tracker )that will create customized workout and meal schedules for each trainee based on the information they enters, and track their meals from the coach by uploading photos of what they eat daily. This app will help the coach better organize trainee data, monitor compliance, and deliver high quality service.

Meet Maurice, a dedicated businessman who runs a ride hailing business. His daily tasks include managing multiple vehicles used by different drivers and tracking down their daily performance in terms of meeting the daily payment target required from the drivers. The current system for managing the fleet is inefficient as it involves manually recording the payments, finances, and vehicle information in a book then at the end of the month he uses Microsoft Excel to try and garner insights from the data on how his business is doing however, he is not very conversant with excel formulas which makes him really spend a lot of time gathering business insights. This method is error-prone, lacks centralized access and time-consuming. This makes it difficult for Maurice to efficiently track driver performance, vehicle maintenance and daily payments made by the drivers. Being a Junior Software Developer, Maurice approached me via Linked In, seeking for a solution (See Appendix A.1) . We then arranged for an online interview with Maurice via zoom (See Appendix A.2). Through the interview with him I got to learn that he also experiences frequent delays when reconciling payments, tracking which driver is assigned to which car and updating financial records. Additionally, he mentioned past incidences where he had quarrels with his drivers over claimed payments that could not be accounted for, which led to drivers not being able to pay the actual money that they owed him (See Appendix B ). With this he expressed the need for a better way to monitor drivers’ performance, see how much each driver has paid over time ,and to view this data in a clean, organized format that helps him in making informed decisions

Despite significant effort and experimenting with various study methods, my client struggles with improving and keeping up his grades. He often feels overwhelmed by the lack of clarity regarding his academic standing and finds it difficult to pinpoint which study strategies are truly effective. This academic stress not only impacts his performance but also his overall well-being. As discussed with my client on 20/10/2024 (Meeting 1 in Appendix), the core issue lies in the current fragmented and manual approach to tracking his academic progress. This manual process is not only time-consuming, detracting from valuable study hours, but also highly inefficient, making it difficult to maintain an up-to-date view of his performance. He requires a more streamlined and proactive method to manage his academic data. To address these challenges, my client has requested a computer program with specific functionalities. Primarily, he needs a solution that runs automatically on startup, checking all Google Classroom posts and extracting and saving any new grades as soon as they are released. This will eliminate the current manual overhead and provide immediate access to his performance data.

As the Cultural Secretary, I work with my client, Ms. Nandhini, to organize the school’s largest interschool cultural fest, Tattvam, involving 15+ schools and 200+ students. Currently, Google Sheets, emails, and WhatsApp are used to manage registrations, venues, vendors, and tasks. These methods have caused duplicate registrations, venue clashes, payment allocation issues, delayed tasks, and difficulty tracking responsibilities. Therefore, a centralized event management system is required to improve coordination and reduce errors.

My client, Mr. John Wood is a representative of multiple farmers, who experiences the frequent problem of not knowing how to identify diseases in their crops. Without timely and accurate diagnosis, it results in low yield, overuse of pesticides, and, in extreme cases, crop failure. At present, the two methods that are used by him for plant disease detection are visual inspection and testing at agricultural laboratories. He inspects crops visually for symptoms such as discolouration or deformations, which are subjective, prone to error, and require expertise that many lack. Instead, they send samples to labs for analysis, which is time-consuming, costly, and delays intervention. With the first method not being very effective and the second method not being affordable to them. These methods make disease management inefficient and worsen losses. Mr Wood needs an effective platform for detecting plant diseases and giving responsive recommendations. It should be user-friendly, simple for farmers with very minimal technical experience, and flexible enough to accommodate all types of crops and diseases.
