The client, Mr. Lameck, is the student council coordinator at my school; he is responsible for overseeing all student council and club leadership elections. He usually runs the elections using the old tedious system of paper ballots. Consequently, the manual system sometimes raises complaints about the validity and transparency of the election results and is very time-consuming considering the school’s large population and the many student leadership posts available in the school. During a consultation meeting with the client (Appendix C), he explained that the current manual voting system using paper ballots is time-consuming, inefficient, and prone to errors. Counting votes manually often leads to mistakes, and there have been past cases of duplicate voting due to lack of a proper authentication system. Additionally, Mr. Lameck highlighted that handling candidate applications is a major challenge since the process is manual. He currently creates paper forms, collects applications, and evaluates them manually, which consumes significant time and increases chances of bias or oversight. He expressed the need for a centralized, secure, and transparent digital voting system that can seamlessly handle both candidate application and voting. Rationale for the proposed solutionHL
