Your Physics turnaround checklist
Start with these actions:
Collect two or three recent assessments and teacher comments.

Complete a small set of targeted questions without notes.
Correct every error and write a rule for next time.
Ask your teacher what would move your response into the next achievement band.

Diagnose the grade before repairing it
MYP Sciences uses four equally weighted assessment criteria. Criterion A covers knowing and understanding. Criterion B focuses on inquiring and designing. Criterion C assesses processing and evaluating. Criterion D asks students to reflect on the impacts of science.
The same overall grade can therefore hide different problems. One student may know formulas but struggle to apply them in unfamiliar situations. This moves from knowledge to meaning and finally to application. If you cannot explain a step, return to that exact gap instead of restarting the whole chapter.

Practise the criterion holding you back
Better content knowledge will not automatically repair every criterion. Your practice should resemble the skill you need to demonstrate.
If Criterion A is weak
Explain concepts and solve unfamiliar problems. Show substitutions, retain units, and check whether the final value is physically reasonable. State when an equation applies and what each variable represents.
If Criterion B is weak
Write investigation plans that identify independent, dependent, and controlled variables. Explain how measurements will be taken, how controls will be maintained, and why repeated measurements strengthen the evidence. A method should be reproducible, not merely plausible.
If Criterion C is weak
Practise tables, graphs, conclusions, and evaluations. Choose suitable axes, units, scales, and trend lines. Connect conclusions to the observed pattern and scientific reasoning. Distinguish random variation from systematic limitations, then propose a specific improvement.
If Criterion D is weak
Build balanced arguments about scientific applications. Explain benefits and limitations, use accurate terminology, and connect claims to social, environmental, economic, ethical, or technological consequences. Build motivation through visible progress
Waiting to feel motivated is risky because motivation often follows progress. A practical MYP Physics mindset makes the task small enough to begin and clear enough to measure.
Try three 35-minute sessions each week:
Session one: Review one concept, then explain it from memory.
Session two: Complete five to eight targeted questions and correct them.
Session three: Practise one Criterion B, C, or D response using feedback.
