Target the next overall grade, but begin with foundations. Look for missing definitions, incorrect units, weak equation substitution, and answers that ignore the command term.
A useful weekly objective is: “I will accurately solve familiar questions on one topic and explain each step using scientific language.” Start with the MYP Physics learning pathway, then answer questions without looking back at the explanation.
If you currently earn a grade 4 or 5
A one-grade rise across a term is a sensible stretch target. The important shift is usually from recognition to independent application. You need to use ideas in unfamiliar contexts, connect evidence to conclusions, and make your reasoning visible.
Knowing the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration is not enough. You should be able to select and rearrange the relationship, track units, interpret the result, and explain whether the answer is physically reasonable.
If you currently earn a grade 6
An immediate demand for a 7 can create unhelpful pressure. First aim to make your grade 6 consistent while moving one weaker criterion toward the top band.
At this level, marks often disappear through imprecision rather than complete misunderstanding. Look for unsupported claims, vague vocabulary, incomplete evaluations, missing uncertainty considerations, or explanations that stop one step too early.
Build a repeatable Physics system
Motivation helps you begin. It is less reliable on a tired Wednesday evening. A stronger MYP Physics mindset uses a repeatable feedback loop:
