Criterion A: Knowing and understanding
Criterion A assesses whether you can select suitable mathematics and apply it successfully. Evidence may include accurate algebra, correct formula use and effective methods for familiar or unfamiliar problems.
Extended Mathematics questions can require more advanced techniques than the standard course, but they still assess Criterion A. A correct answer is valuable, although visible working may be needed to demonstrate the method fully.

In classroom assessment, teachers award an achievement level for each criterion. The scale is 0 to 8: levels 1 to 8 correspond to achievement descriptors, while 0 means the work has not reached the standard described by the first band.

How eAssessment grade boundaries work
