How do I set up my subjects and exam session?
Updated August 6, 2026
You pick both when you first sign in. To change them later, open Settings → Account: select your exam session at the top of the page, and use Edit subjects under Subjects.
What setup asks for
The first time you sign in, setup asks whether you are an IB DP or MYP student, when you sit your exams and which subjects you take. Diploma students choose an exam session, for example May 2027. MYP students choose their MYP year instead. Where a subject is taught at two levels, you also choose SL or HL. Setup runs once, so you cannot go back through it to change an answer.
Change your exam session
- Open Settings, then the Account tab.
- In your profile details at the top of the page, select the exam session you are on now, for example May 2026.
- Choose your new session under IB Exam Session, then choose Save.
There is no limit on exam session changes. Your session decides which Extended Essay criteria are recommended when you send coursework for marking, so keep it accurate.
Two cases need a person. If you study MYP, your MYP year cannot be changed from inside the app. If your profile details show no exam session at all, settings cannot add one. In both cases, message us with the Contact support button at the bottom of this page.
Open my account settingsChange your subjects
- Open Settings, then the Account tab.
- Go to Subjects and choose Edit subjects.
- Add or remove subjects, set SL or HL, then choose Save.
An account can change its subjects three times in total. The subjects you picked during setup do not count, and you can still move a subject between SL and HL after all three changes are used.
