How does IA, EE and TOK marking work?

What happens when you submit

1. Upload your coursework as a PDF or Word file.
2. Choose your subject, then Select grading rubric and level. Course Level, Standard Level or Higher Level, only appears for an IA.
3. Select coursework progress: say whether the work is finished.
4. Configure submission settings: the language you wrote in, plus a citation format if the work is finished.
5. Select report type. Pro skips this step and always gets the full report.
6. Confirm your privacy settings, then choose Grade My Coursework.

Marking runs on our side, not in your browser, so you can close the tab. Come back to the report page, which shows each stage. Your past work sits under Recent Submissions on the grader page: the six most recent, with View All for the rest.

Draft feedback or full marking

• I haven't finished my work costs 5 energy. You get comments against the rubric, pinned to your document and grouped by criterion. There is no score, because the work is not finished yet.
• I've finished writing my work costs 10 energy. You get the same pinned comments, a mark for every criterion and an overall score. It also opens the Chat and Plagiarism & AI tabs, which drafts do not get.

Select report type is a separate choice. Coursework progress is how much of your work you send. Report type is how much marking you get back. On Free, a finished piece still comes back as a Mini Report.

Energy only limits you on Free. Plus and Pro both include unlimited energy, so neither cost applies on those plans.

How many you can mark a day

You can mark 5 submissions a day, and the count resets each day. If you reach the limit, the grader tells you and shows when it resets.

If a marking run fails, we put back the energy and that day's allowance, so it does not use up one of your five.

What the report gives you

A full report opens on a Scores tab, which shows:

• an overall score
• every criterion with its mark, written feedback, strengths and weaknesses
• a projected IB grade, where we hold grade boundaries for that rubric

Comments are pinned to the exact place in your document. Click one to jump to that paragraph.

A Mini Report leaves out the overall score and the full rubric breakdown. The Full Report includes both and needs Pro. On Free, a mini report and a draft show the first two criteria and blur the rest.
