When am I charged, and how do I get an invoice?
Updated August 6, 2026
You pay for your whole term up front, it renews on the same cycle unless you cancel, and your billing details sit behind Open Billing in Settings → Account → Subscription & Billing.
When you are charged
You pay for your whole term in one payment at checkout. A 6 month plan is a single payment that covers six months, not six monthly payments.
Your plan then renews on the same cycle unless you cancel first. A 1 month plan renews every month, a 6 month plan every six months, a 24 month plan every two years. Stripe, our payment provider, emails you a reminder three days before your renewal.
Exam session passes work differently. They are a single payment with no renewal, and access runs until the end date shown on the pass. The price you see at checkout already includes the discount that is currently running.
See plans and pricesFinding your invoice
- Open Settings, then the Account tab.
- Scroll to Subscription & Billing.
- Choose Open Billing.
That opens the billing portal Stripe runs for your account. Your renewal date is not printed in Settings itself, so the portal is where to check it.
If you need an invoice that is not in the portal, for example one addressed to your school, message us. A person has to issue that one by hand.
Open my subscription settingsIf you subscribed in the iPhone app
Subscriptions bought inside the iPhone app are billed by Apple, not by us. Apple issues the receipt for those payments and keeps the purchase history in your App Store account. We cannot produce an invoice for a payment we did not take.
Renewals and failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, your paid access stops as soon as the payment stops counting as active. There is no grace period and no warning banner in the app. Update your card in the billing portal. If your plan is no longer listed under Subscription & Billing, the subscription has ended, so pick a plan again from the pricing page. If you were charged and still lost access, message us.
