How do I change my name, username or profile picture?
Updated August 6, 2026
Open Settings, then the Account tab. Your first name, last name, username, profile picture and banner are all editable there. Your email address is not.
Change your name or username
- Open Settings, then the Account tab.
- Move your pointer over your name at the top of the profile card, then choose the pencil button, Edit name.
- Edit First Name, Last Name and Username, then choose Save name.
Your username has to be free, so the box checks it as you type and shows a tick when the name is available. Usernames are 4 to 20 characters and can use letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens. They cannot start or end with a hyphen or underscore, or carry two of them in a row. Capital letters are turned into lower case for you, and some words are reserved and will be refused.
Save name stays off until the form is right: first name and last name cannot be empty, and a username you have changed has to finish its check first.
The phone app edits the same fields. Open the settings in the app and choose Profile.
Open my profile settingsChange your profile picture
- On the same page, choose your current picture at the top of the profile card.
- Pick a Body, Face, Hat and Background.
- Choose Update Profile Picture.
Banner, exam year and school
The pencil button in the top right corner of the profile card opens Change profile banner. Every account can pick a background colour there. The illustrated banners need Pro. Nothing is applied until you choose Save banner, so a colour you pick and then close the window on is dropped.
If you have set an exam year, it is listed on the same card, and choosing it opens a window where you can change it. If a school is connected, the buttons next to its name let you switch to another school or disconnect the one you have.
Your email address
Your email address is shown on the profile card, but it is not editable there and no other screen changes it. It is what your account is keyed to and where your sign-in codes are sent, so a person on our team has to move it for you. Message support with the address you use now and the one you want instead. The article on changing your email address, linked below, walks through it.
