When Are IB Results Released?

IB results are released twice a year, based on the session you take:

  • May session: Results are typically available on July 6.
  • November session: Results are usually released by January 2.

Exact release times may vary depending on your school’s location and time zone. Students must obtain login credentials from their IB coordinator to access their results online.

What You Need Before Checking Your IB Scores

Before you can check your IB results, you'll need two key credentials:

Personal Candidate Code

A unique code assigned to each IB candidate, often containing letters and numbers (e.g., ab123).

PIN (Personal Identification Number)

A 6–8 digit numeric PIN provided by your school’s IB coordinator. This allows secure access to your personal results.

Note: If you don’t have these, contact your school’s IB coordinator. The IB does not send these details directly to students.

How to Check IB Exam Scores Online

Step 1: Visit the Official IB Candidate Website

Go to candidates.ibo.org using a secure browser.

Step 2: Log in with Your Code and PIN

  • Enter your candidate code and PIN exactly as provided.
  • These fields are case-sensitive, so double-check for any typos.

Step 3: View Your Subject Grades and Diploma Score

Once logged in:

  • Click on "Results" or "View Results" tab.
  • You will see individual subject scores (1–7), your Diploma score (out of 45), and core points from TOK and EE.

Common Issues When Accessing IB Results

Forgotten Login Credentials

If you’ve lost your code or PIN, your IB coordinator is the only person who can retrieve or reset them.

Locked Accounts and Technical Errors

Entering incorrect details multiple times may lock your account temporarily. Wait before trying again or contact your school.

Tip: Always test your login a day before results are released.

What to Do After Receiving Your IB Results

Requesting University Transcripts

  • The IB allows you to nominate up to 6 universities to receive your results, free of charge if submitted before release day.
  • After results day, requests can still be made for a small fee through your school.

Requesting a Remark

If you believe a subject grade is lower than expected:

  • Ask your coordinator about a "re-mark" (Enquiry Upon Results).
  • Only your school can submit this request on your behalf.

Tips for Students Awaiting Results

How to Stay Calm and Prepare

  • Avoid social media rumors and unofficial “leaks.”
  • Keep busy by reviewing your university plans, writing gratitude notes to teachers, or revisiting your CAS reflections.

What Your Predicted Grades Can Tell You

Compare your IB results with predictions to identify gaps or surprises. This can help with future academic planning or appeals.
