On a completed exemplar, cover one object's commentary and ask what the exhibition loses. If it loses only another instance of the same point, examine whether that object has a contribution the others do not make.
An asserted link hands the reader a conclusion without the reasoning that reached it. The next step is to examine the object's details and explain that reasoning.
If you can remove the prompt and every paragraph still reads as a complete object biography, inspect the links. Each commentary needs to connect its particular object to the knowledge question.
Underline the factual details in an exemplar, then inspect the claims built on them. Ask whether the details support those claims, and whether another interpretation remains possible.
If your teacher gives you a marked example, read it once with the mark covered and note the passages that support your interpretation. Then compare with the assessment commentary, including any strengths or gaps you missed.
