Bundle theory
Associated with Hume, bundle theory holds that the self is not a distinct, unified substance but merely a bundle of perceptions in constant flux. On this account, introspection never reveals a persistent "I" behind our thoughts and experiences, because the self is nothing over and above the succession of mental states themselves.
No-self (wu wo)
No-self (wu wo) is the Taoist ideal of releasing attachment to a fixed, ego-centred identity, not by annihilating the self entirely but by dissolving the rigid boundaries between self and world so that one experiences oneself as continuous with the natural processes of the Tao rather than as an isolated, autonomous agent.
