Design improvement
A specific change to a solution that you can justify with test or feedback evidence, described precisely enough that another person could make it.
Evaluation against specification
Judging a finished solution one specification point at a time, giving a pass, partial or fail verdict for each point and the test evidence that supports it.
Fair test
A test in which only the thing you are measuring is allowed to change, so the result tells you about the solution and not about the conditions you tested it in.
Impact of a solution
The difference a solution makes once it is in use, to the client, to the wider audience, to people it was never aimed at, and to the environment.

The recorded results of testing a solution: measurements, counts, times, ratings and observations, kept in a form someone else could read and check.

What the client and the people who actually use a solution say and do about it, gathered on purpose through questions, interviews and watching them use it.
