Academic integrity
Working honestly so that every piece of a design folder is either your own or clearly credited to whoever made it.
Citation
A short note next to borrowed material saying who made it, what it is and where you found it, so a reader can go and check.
Command term
The instruction verb in a task or criterion strand, such as analyse, justify or evaluate, that tells you exactly what kind of work the marker expects.
Design cycle
The four stage working method of MYP design: inquiring and analysing, developing ideas, creating the solution, evaluating, then round again with what you learned.
Global context
One of six IB settings that give a unit a real world reason to exist, answering why this design work matters and to whom.
Key concept
A big idea that reaches across subjects and gives a unit its widest lens; MYP design uses communication, communities, development and systems.
Related concept
A narrower idea that belongs to design itself, such as ergonomics or sustainability, used to sharpen a key concept into a workable unit focus.
