An Analytical Approach to Web Pages and Social Media

Web page

A digital text designed for online reading, combining hyperlinks, multimedia elements, and scannable layout to deliver information or prompt user interaction.

Digital texts reward analysis of both the linguistic and the visual-structural dimensions. Your commentary should move between what the text says and how it is laid out, since both are analytically significant.

Start with the Overall Design Logic

Before analysing specific devices, identify what the creator wants the reader to do: donate, sign up, share, buy. Understanding that goal frames your analysis of every individual design choice on the page.
State the design logic in your opening sentence: for example, "This page is designed to persuade the reader to donate by first building empathy, then urgency, then providing an immediate action." This framing disciplines the entire analysis.
