Note
The Duchy of Burgundy began as a relatively small territory in eastern France, but through strategic marriages, military conquests, and political maneuvering, it grew into a powerful state that rivaled both France and the Holy Roman Empire.
The Burgundian state eventually encompassed territories stretching from modern-day eastern France to the Low Countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg)
Burgundy's rise was marked by a combination of diplomatic skill, economic strength, and military power
AnalogyThink of Burgundy's expansion like a game of chess, where each move (marriage, alliance, conquest) was carefully calculated to gain maximum advantage.
