In the German ab initio course, creating effective notes is a vital skill for your IO (Internal Assessment). Your notes are your "safety net": they keep you on track, help you structure your ideas, and prevent you from panicking or having a "blackout" during the individual oral.
Since you are not allowed to bring a prepared speech or a full script into the exam, your 10 bullet points (10 Stichpunkte) are your only support. Good notes find a balance: they provide enough detail to guide you, but not so much that you end up reading instead of speaking naturally.
In the ab initio IO, you will be given a visual stimulus (a photo or poster) related to one of the five themes. You have 15 minutes to prepare 10 brief bullet points to help you during your presentation.
Start by identifying which of the five IB themes the picture represents.
Picture: A group of people riding bicycles in a city.
Theme: Sharing the Planet (Umwelt).
Sub-topic: Sustainable transport (Nachhaltiger Verkehr).
Connection: "How bikes reduce pollution in big cities."
Use your notes to remind you of specific vocabulary for what you see in the picture.
