Group Areas Act
The Group Areas Act was a South African law that enforced racial segregation during the apartheid era by assigning urban areas to particular racial groups and forcing people to live only in the area assigned to them. It was passed as Act No. 41 of 1950, amended and consolidated several times, and repealed in 1991.
