Community Connections: Belonging and Support

1. Relationships and the Individual
   1. In French ab initio, we study how our connections with others shape who we are.
   2. Quelqu'un qui bénéficie d'un fort soutien familial vivra l'éducation différemment (Someone who benefits from strong family support will experience education differently).
   3. Certains élèves dépendent principalement de leurs pairs (Some students depend mainly on their peers).
   4. The essential idea is that les relations ont des conséquences qui dépassent l'individu (relationships have consequences that go beyond the individual).
2. Types of Relationships
   1. La famille (the family) provides the first circle of support and identity.
   2. Les pairs (peers) or les amis (friends) influence our social choices and hobbies.
   3. Les voisins (neighbors) and les bénévoles (volunteers) build the local community.

Exam Success: Communicating about Relationships

1. Paper 1: Writing Tasks
   1. You might write a lettre (letter) to give advice to a friend about l'amitié (friendship).
   2. You could write a blog to comment on le bénévolat (volunteering) or la solitude (loneliness).
   3. You might write a proposition (proposal) to suggest how a school can improve l'inclusion (inclusion).
2. Paper 2: Listening and Reading
   1. Look for cause et effet (cause and effect) in the texts.
   2. Les réseaux sociaux relient des amis éloignés (Social networks connect distant friends).

3. Internal Assessment: The Individual Oral
