Mass-spring system
A mass-spring system consists of a mass attached to a spring. When displaced from equilibrium and released, it undergoes SHM with period $T = 2\pi\sqrt{m/k}$, where $m$ is the mass and $k$ is the spring constant.
Simple pendulum
A simple pendulum consists of a point mass on a light inextensible string of length $L$. For small angles it undergoes SHM with period $T = 2\pi\sqrt{L/g}$.
