The company has identified three potential Denial of Service (DoS) attacks that could be used against its network:

SYN flood: An attacker sends a large number of TCP connection requests but does not complete the 3-way handshake. This leaves many half-open connections on the server and can exhaust resources.
Smurf attack: An attacker sends ICMP echo requests to a network broadcast address using a spoofed source address of the victim. Many hosts reply to the victim, saturating bandwidth.
Stack-based buffer overflow: An attacker supplies more data than a buffer can handle, potentially overwriting adjacent data and causing an application or system to crash or loop indefinitely, resulting in denial of service.
