Language is more than just words
1. It is a marqueur de culture (marker of culture) that shows our history and traditions.
2. It acts as a marqueur de pouvoir (marker of power) in society and politics.
3. It serves as a marqueur de communauté (marker of community) to help us feel like we belong.
Language can bring people together
1. A héritage partagé (shared heritage) allows people to connect through their ancestors.
2. Speaking the same language helps unir les gens (unite people) in a new country or group.
3. Ma famille parle français pour célébrer nos traditions (My family speaks French to celebrate our traditions).
Language can also create distance
1. Les barrières linguistiques (language barriers) can make it hard to understand others.
2. Les préjugés (prejudices) sometimes exist against people with different accents or dialects.
3. The disparition des langues (disappearance of languages) can cause a community to lose its unique voice.
