The IB has rules on AI. Here’s how we measure up.
The IB’s guidance asks students to learn with AI while keeping submitted work their own. See how Jojo and RevisionDojo’s study tools support that boundary through practice, coursework feedback, attribution, and human oversight.
We built Jojo to pass a simple test: does it help a student think, or does it think for them?
We design study features to help students practice, check, and improve their own understanding. Students must still review and acknowledge AI-generated material used in submitted work.
Ask, then understand
Jojo often asks a clarifying or follow-up question before explaining, so the student has to engage with the concept.
Practise and review
Jojo can explain and mark practice. General chat can also generate text, so students must follow their school’s authorship and attribution rules.
Keep the work yours
Coursework Studio gives planning and rubric feedback while the student writes the final coursework.
IB AI Policy vs. RevisionDojo’s Practice
These principles come from the IB’s Academic integrity policy and public AI guidance, checked line by line against what we have built.
General principles
What the IB says
AI tools are not banned. They should support learning in the same way a student uses a search engine or textbook.
What RevisionDojo does
RevisionDojo tools are study aids students use before they write. Students still produce and defend their own work.
What the IB says
Any AI-generated or AI-rewritten material used in a submission must be credited in the text and bibliography.
What RevisionDojo does
General Jojo chat can generate or rewrite text when asked. Students must review and acknowledge any AI-generated material they use in submitted work; Coursework Studio focuses on planning and feedback.
What the IB says
High-stakes decisions about grading, progression, and well-being must retain human oversight.
What RevisionDojo does
Practice scores are feedback, not final grades. Teachers and examiners remain responsible for assessment decisions.
What the IB says
Students should critically review AI output for accuracy and bias rather than accepting it as final.
What RevisionDojo does
Jojo treats an answer as a starting point and uses questions and explanations to keep students actively evaluating the material.
Study and coursework tools
What the IB says
Practice questions and study aids are a normal part of preparing to write independently.
What RevisionDojo does
Question Bank and Jojo AI explain and mark practice work. Students remain responsible for how they use AI assistance in submitted work.
What the IB says
Explaining a concept in your own words is evidence of genuine understanding.
What RevisionDojo does
Teach Jojo asks follow-up questions so students retrieve, explain, and expose gaps in their own understanding.
What the IB says
Support may structure a student's work, but it must not produce the assessed work for them.
What RevisionDojo does
Coursework Studio supports research questions, outlines, and rubric checks while keeping final coursework writing with the student.
What the IB says
Teacher or tutor feedback is appropriate when it remains feedback rather than authorship.
What RevisionDojo does
Coursework Grader provides rubric-based annotations and explanations without rewriting a student's paragraph.
Integrity and attribution tools
What the IB says
Detection software can assist schools, but it should not replace teaching students what academic integrity means.
What RevisionDojo does
The AI and Plagiarism Checker helps students spot material that may need attribution before submission; it is not a misconduct verdict.
What the IB says
Sources, including AI tools, must be acknowledged using the referencing style required by the school.
What RevisionDojo does
The Citation Generator helps students format references while keeping responsibility for complete and accurate attribution with them.
Where this leaves us
These tools can support the IB’s academic integrity guidance. General Jojo chat can draft or rewrite text on request, so students must follow their school’s rules and acknowledge AI-generated material used in submissions. Practice feedback does not decide final grades.
This is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time check. We review every new AI feature against the IB’s rules before it ships and will update our tools as the guidance evolves.
