IB Social and Cultural Anthropology SL Internal Assessment Example

The student provides a clear, chronological, and vivid account of the setting and what happened there.

The student's observations are supported by concrete sensory and social detail, which makes the field site feel specific and well grounded.

The student establishes the context well by explaining where, when, and under what conditions the observation took place.

At a few points the student moves from description into interpretation, so the boundary between what they saw and what they inferred could be clearer.

Some claims would be stronger with one or two more concrete examples to support them.

The student clearly identifies a second research method and explains how it works.

The student makes a strong conceptual link between the method and the focus on social relations.

The student justifies the choice by showing how the method can access perspectives that observation alone cannot reveal.

The method would be stronger if the student explained participant selection more clearly.

The discussion would benefit from a more explicit sequence showing how the questions or themes will generate the data the student needs.

Some parts could be tightened so the methodological purpose is easier to follow.
