A.3Hypothesis and variables

Criteria Feedback
- The student stated a clear, focused investigation aim and explained why it matters in a realistic classroom context.
- The student described the working memory model in enough detail and linked it to the predicted effect of listening while writing.
- The student operationalized both the independent and dependent variables clearly in their hypotheses.
- The theoretical explanation could be a little sharper in places, especially in linking each task to the relevant working memory component.
- Some phrasing is slightly simplified, so the model description would benefit from greater precision.

Criteria StrandsPro
B.1Research design

B.2Sampling and participants

B.3Variables and materials
Excellent
Criteria Feedback
- The student clearly identified an independent-samples design and explained why it suited the investigation.
- The student justified the use of convenience sampling in a practical, school-based context.
- The student described key controls and materials clearly, including the fixed delay and standardized audio.
- The justification for the sample sometimes overstates what a small convenience sample can support.
- The explanation would be stronger if the student separated control variables from optional or exploratory features more clearly.
