IB Mathematics Applications & Interpretation (AI) HL Internal Assessment Example

The student's report has a clear overall structure that guides the reader from context to modelling, comparison, and conclusion.

The student keeps the investigation focused on a real-world question, and the purpose of the work is easy to follow.

The main line of development is logical, especially in how the student moves from data presentation to comparing different fitted models.

Some sections become repetitive, which weakens conciseness.

A few graphs and tables are hard to read or presented in a way that interrupts the flow.

The evaluation stage is less convincing because some validation choices are not independent.

The student uses appropriate mathematical language such as regression equations, variables, percentage error, and the coefficient of determination.

The student includes several different representations, including tables, graphs, fitted equations, and summary comparisons.

The student's communication is mostly understandable, and the reader can identify the dataset, the models, and the intended comparison.

The notation is not always consistent, especially with $R^2$, $r^2$, and the naming of the model variable.

Several equations and substitutions are written unclearly, which makes checking the working harder than it should be.

Some figures and calculations contain inconsistent labels or indexing errors that reduce clarity.
