IB Mathematics Analysis and Approaches (AA) SL Internal Assessment Example

Clear overall narrative with logical progression through rationale, data collection, model selection, prediction, and repayment analysis

Well-defined structure: contents page, consistent headings, numbered tables/figures, and a clear introduction–body–conclusion layout

Occasional digressions and lengthy explanations of basic concepts reduce conciseness

Appendix and some figure captions are only partially integrated into the main discussion

Minor mismatches between table of contents entries and actual page numbers

Consistent and accurate use of mathematical notation and language throughout most of the exploration

Effective use of multiple representations (scatter plots, fitted curves, tables, regression outputs) to support modelling choices

Logical structure of mathematical argumentation, with clear steps from data to model selection, parameter determination, and extrapolation

Axes and units are occasionally missing or unclear on figures

Inconsistent currency labelling in tables

Minor notation slips (e.g., mixing italics/roman, inconsistent subscript syntax)
