- The student states a clear and focused political issue and connects it well to human rights, sovereignty, and justice.
- The student's personal rationale gives the topic authenticity and shows genuine engagement with the issue.
- The student's choice of Calais creates a strong and relevant context for exploring migration politics.
- The student's justification would be stronger if they explained more clearly why Calais is the most relevant case for their interest.
- The link between the student's personal experience and the specific political question could be made more precise.
- The rationale is clear, but it could go further in showing why this issue matters in a distinct Global Politics sense.

Criteria Feedback
- The student describes the intended engagement clearly and keeps it relevant to the issue.
- The student shows that they used research alongside the engagement to deepen their understanding.
- The student identifies the tensions between sovereignty, humanitarian provision, and migrants’ rights as the main learning focus.
- The engagement is described more generally than specifically, so it is hard to see what the student personally learned from it.
- The interview itself is not evidenced in a way that shows how it changed or developed the student's understanding.
- Much of the reflection sounds like secondary research rather than insight gained directly through the engagement.
