IB Geography HL Internal Assessment Example

Fieldwork question is precisely defined with clear links to bid-rent theory, enabling hypothesis formation.

Introduction locates Abidjan and Plateau district specifically; maps identify transect routes and individual sites, demonstrating feasibility.

Three separate maps follow cartographic conventions (north arrows, legends, scale bars) and focus on the study area.

Figure 2 lacks a north arrow and scale bar, limiting spatial clarity.

Scope could be sharpened by specifying primary urban stress indicators (e.g. traffic flow vs. pedestrian counts).

Socio-economic context (income distribution, land use) could be deepened for richer geographic framing.

Methods are clearly described and each linked to the underlying bid-rent theory and hypotheses.

Systematic sampling at 100 m intervals, decibel readings and bipolar EQS provide a coherent methodological framework.

Implementation (3-minute counts, averaging dB, paired EQS) produced a consistent primary dataset across 40 sites.

Justification for the 40-site sample size is not provided, leaving representativeness unexplained.

The validity and calibration of the bipolar EQS scale require further elaboration to ensure consistency.

The theoretical rationale for choosing noise and EQS as proxies could be strengthened with deeper grounding in bid-rent literature.
