IB Geography SL Internal Assessment Example

The student identifies a clear geographical topic and anchors it in established urban theory.

The student's maps are detailed and generally follow cartographic conventions well.

The student defines a precise, feasible transect and sampling area for primary fieldwork.

Some maps are visually crowded, which makes a few labels harder to read.

The research question wording is broad in places and could be sharper.

A little more context on specific redevelopment features would make the setting more vivid.

The student's methods are clearly chosen to match the question and the two hypotheses.

The student uses systematic transect sampling and repeat pedestrian counts, which improves the design.

The student includes an external valuation source, showing thoughtful method selection.

The method section would be stronger if the student justified some design choices more explicitly, such as the chosen radius for valuation data.

Some aspects of the data collection remain limited by a single-day snapshot and a single transect.

The distinction between rateable value and true land value needs to be handled more carefully.
