IB Economics SL Internal Assessment Example

The student includes two relevant macroeconomic diagrams that are connected to the policy change.

The student's Phillips curve diagram is clearly labelled and helps illustrate the short-run inflation-unemployment trade-off.

The diagrams are accompanied by a full explanation of the causal effects of the interest-rate cut.

The AD-AS diagram is not fully and correctly labelled, especially the axes and the supply curve.

The diagram set does not fully meet the top-band accuracy and labelling requirements.

Adding initial and new equilibrium labels directly on the diagram would make the visual reasoning clearer.

The student uses a wide range of relevant economic terminology appropriately in many places.

Key terms such as repo rate, aggregate demand, investment, cyclical unemployment and imported inflation are integrated into the discussion.

The student's language generally shows that they understand the monetary-policy mechanism being analysed.

Some terminology is used imprecisely, especially where the student writes 'devaluation' instead of 'depreciation'.

A few phrases are awkward or unclear, such as 'higher inflated imported cost'.

Some claims are too broad, which weakens the precision of the terminology the student uses.
