IB Economics SL Internal Assessment Example

Relevant diagrams are included across all three commentaries, so the visual analysis is consistently tied to the economic issues in the articles.

Several diagrams are explained rather than simply inserted, showing the intended policy mechanism and market effect.

The housing, money-market, and tariff visuals each help the reader follow the line of argument.

Some diagrams contain important inaccuracies or missing elements, especially around subsidy wedges, tariff revenue, imports, and welfare losses.

A few labels and equilibrium points are unclear or inconsistently rendered, which weakens reliability.

The foreign-exchange and tariff diagrams do not always match the written explanation, so the mechanism is not fully convincing.

A wide range of relevant economic terminology is used throughout the commentary, including terms from housing, trade, and monetary policy.

The vocabulary is often embedded in analysis rather than appearing as isolated definitions.

Some terminology, such as price ceiling and shortage, is used accurately and helps make the argument clearer.

Several important terms are used imprecisely, especially comparative advantage, exchange rates, and inflation-related language.

At times the terminology is applied in a way that blurs distinct concepts, such as treating a policy interest rate as inflation.

The commentary needs tighter conceptual accuracy to move from relevant terminology to consistently appropriate terminology.
