Criteria Feedback
- The research question is clear, relevant, and narrowly framed around a specific speaker, period, and linguistic issue.
- The essay is logically organised and easy to follow, with clear sections that support the reader’s navigation.
- You use a suitable set of textual features and examples to keep the investigation anchored in language.
- The presentation conventions, including word count, title information, and page numbers, are all in place.
- The question begins to assume its conclusion by presuming ambiguity instead of fully testing it.
- The method would be stronger if you set out a consistent analytical framework for comparing all three speeches.
- Long transcript annexes add bulk, but the main analysis would benefit more from shorter, verified extracts integrated into the essay.

Criteria Feedback
- You use relevant linguistic terminology with some accuracy and connect it to specific quotations.
- The essay shows a good grasp of the political and social context surrounding the speeches.
- You explain several concepts meaningfully, especially how pronouns, contrast, and institutional language shape political messaging.
- Some terminology is used too loosely or asserted without sufficient explanation, which weakens precision.
- The contextual research is relevant but not comprehensive enough for the top band, and it relies heavily on journalistic material.
- At times concepts are applied in a one-directional way, without considering alternative interpretations of the same wording.
