Criteria Feedback
- Topic and purpose are communicated clearly through title and introduction, with a coherent comparative focus on female identity across four life-stage lenses.
- The research question is explicitly stated and generally maintained throughout the discussion, providing a sound framework for analysis.
- Methodology is mostly complete, with appropriate identification of primary texts, an appendix of poems, and a works-cited list demonstrating basic scholarly convention.
- The broad scope (four roles, two authors, two genres) occasionally dilutes the sharpness of focus, leading to minor digressions.
- There is no explicit rationale for the comparative method or the selection of specific poems, weakening methodological transparency.
- Redundant or overly wordy passages in the introduction obscure concision and could be streamlined to sharpen the research focus.

Criteria Feedback
- Demonstrates coherent subject knowledge of historical context and thematic concerns, linking African-American history to literary content.
- Primary quotations are generally relevant and correctly applied to support interpretation.
- Terminology such as “enjambment,” “imagery,” and “bildungsroman” is used accurately to aid literary analysis.
- Explanations often remain at a general thematic level and lack sustained analytical depth into narrative or poetic technique.
- Secondary sources are unevenly integrated and are too few to sustain a broader scholarly dialogue.
- Occasional sweeping generalisations (e.g., about “inherent traits”) indicate uneven precision in applying critical concepts.
