- The student's use of quotations is frequent and usually well chosen to support the argument.
- The student interprets the dialogue in a way that connects speech, power, and social performance effectively.
- Some of the student's broader claims become more general than the text can fully support.

B.1Analysis of textual features and author's choices
Excellent
Criteria Feedback
- The student analyses dramatic features with real purpose, especially the effect of capitals, interrogatives, repetition, and stage direction.
- The student explains how Jerry’s questioning turns dialogue into control and pressure, which is a strong insight into Albee’s dramatic method.
- The student pays close attention to theatrical action as well as spoken language, especially in the ending.
- At times the analysis follows a repeated pattern of feature-to-dominance-to-collapse, which limits variety and nuance.
- Some claims would be stronger if the student considered ambiguity more carefully, especially around Jerry’s motives and final actions.
- The student could say more about audience effect and the tension created by the performance on stage.
